Job Description:

  • The Station Cashier is responsible for handling all financial transactions at the station, including receiving payments, issuing receipts, reconciling cash, maintaining accurate sales records, and ensuring accurate billing. The role involves working closely with the pump attendants and station management to ensure smooth operations and accountability. The role also supports administrative functions and ensures compliance with company financial procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive cash, POS, or transfer payments for fuel, products, and services rendered.
  • Issue receipts and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
  • Maintain the daily cash register and ensure accurate balancing at the end of each shift or day.
  • Prepare daily sales and deposit reports for submission to the Station Manager or Accounts Department.
  • Ensure the safekeeping of cash and make bank deposits when required.
  • Monitor POS machines and promptly escalate any payment issues.
  • Assist in stock-taking and reconcile product sales with inventory.
  • Comply with all company financial policies and audit standards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BSc or HND in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (additional qualifications are an advantage).
  • Previous experience as a cashier, preferably in a retail or filling station environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and POS operations.
  • Strong numerical aptitude and organizational skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and on rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
